ABOUT
Chris Yanson is an illustrator, animator, VFX artist, filmmaker and film composer / songwriter from Los Angeles, California.
As a concept artist, storyboard artist, and animator, he has worked in film and video games including the Project Holodeck, Oculus Rift based games Wild Skies and Zombies on the Holodeck.
As a film composer and songwriter, his music has appeared in film, television, radio ads, video games, and various online media including the webseries CandyLand, Strawberry Shortcake: Beyond The Box, and the DreamWorksTV webseries OMG-Just Jacques.
He has also worked as an assistant to film composer Christopher Young (Hellraiser, The Grudge, Spiderman 3), and has interned for film composers Christopher Lennertz and Tim Wynn at Sonic Fuel Studios.
Chris has studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in illustration. He later studied film scoring at the Scoring for Motion Pictures & Television (SMPTV) graduate program (currently the Department of Screen Scoring) at the University of Southern California (USC Thornton School of Music), studying under film composers Bruce Broughton, Christopher Young, Jack Smalley, Gary Schyman, and Eric Schmidt. Additionally he has also studied film scoring at UCLA Extension, sketch comedy writing at Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, screenwriting at UCLA Extension, music at Pasadena City College, and cinema production at Los Angeles City College.
